Fun Week

This week was Red Ribbon Week at our school.  In my last post I posted this cute idea for red ribbon week:

Well, I stole the idea and used it for a our wall sign that we had to put up! Here is ours:
Here are some of the other cute signs I saw around the school... these aren't all of them though, there were lots that were put up after I took these pictures.

Also this week we did a lot of fun Halloween activities... I found this cute idea to do Frankensteins from Mrs. Lemon's AWESOME blog!!!

I will take more pictures of these after I post them in the classroom!

Here is another really cute idea that one of my coworkers did with her class:

She read the story

then had her class make these ADORABLE little scarecrows:
The last activity my class did this week was read "A Very Brave Witch" and make witch hats and eat "Witche's Brew" AKA punch...

What a fun week...

Now off for a WONDERFUL weekend with my hubby and Baby C!

Contractions

This week we've been talking about contractions.  I saw a great idea somewhere about using caterpillars to make contractions so we made some ourselves.  They turned out really cute so I thought I'd share.

We took two words, wrote them on the legs, then made the contraction on the body.  They did such a great job!!!

We also played KABOOM this week with money.  I hot glued plastic coins to Popsicle sticks, wrote KABOOM on about 6 sticks, then we played KABOOM in small groups.  First the kids just had to tell me the name and value of the coins, the 2nd game the kids had to count the coins and tell me how much they had.  You have the students pick a stick, tell you how much money you have.  If they get the answer right they get to keep the stick, if they get it wrong they put it back in the bucket.  If they draw KABOOM, they have to put all their sticks back in the bucket.  The kids absolutely LOVE it!!! I made KABOOM games with types of sentences and I'm going to do it with nouns, verbs, and adjectives next week! I LOVE this game too!!! :)

Goodnight!!! TOMORROW'S FRIDAY! :)

Boss's Day

So Boss's Day is coming up soon so my school decided to do something special for our administrators.  We are planning on decorating their offices and getting a little gift for them all.  I had all of the staff give me words to describe our principal and assistant principals and made each of them a personalized subway art piece to go in their offices.  I decided that I would make a generic one just in case any of you would like to use it to give to your principal or assitant principal...

You can click on the picture here or download it for free at my TpT store.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!!! :)

Halloween

Well, Halloween is coming fast! I just finished my Set of Halloween Math and Literacy centers!!! I can't wait to use this stuff in my own classroom this year :)  It's so great because it is full of math and literacy games that can be used from Kindergarten through 3rd grade.  I have included some activities to do with the book "Stellaluna", some fun Halloween snacks that the kids can make, and even a witch glyph that I created.  I hope you like it!!!

Download it here at my TpT store:

Tomorrow's Monday, so I need to get some sleep now... Have a WONDERFUL week!!! :)

Types of Sentences Activity Set

Wow, this week has been long already!!! Here a little sentences activity set that I made for my classroom.  It has labels to put on envelopes for telling, asking, and exclamatory sentences.  Students will sort the sentences then use the activity sheet to record two of each sentence type.  There is also a short test included.

Hope you like it :)

Have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!! :)

Flashcards Race

So I'm always looking for EASY centers that I can put out that are a lot of fun for my students.  Well, my school is really STRESSING math facts this year, so I thought I would create a little center for my flashcards and have them do this OFTEN.  I could also use this as a time filler activity if I only have a few minutes to kill.  So I created a center where students will have to actually write the fact down when they get it right and they will race to fill up all of their squares first.  You can actually use it for any subject.  Just give your students some type of flashcards that they must study and play the game! You can download it here at my TpT store :)

Have a great weekend!
